NASD Basketball coaching staff brings over 30 years of basketball experience in the Nazareth Area School District as players and coaches.

Joseph Arndt-Varsity Head Coach

 


a 1991 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, where he was an all-league football
and basketball player. He graduated from Kutztown University with a B.S. in
Elementary Education. Joe is starting his 30th season in coaching and 17th as the
Head Coach of the Blue Eagles. Coach Arndt led the Blue Eagles to its first ever LVC
Basketball title (2009-2010 season) and made the first appearance in PIAA state
playoffs since 1982. Joe came to Nazareth after serving 3 years as head boys
basketball coach at Pen Argyl High School, securing that school's first ever district
title. He also served as an assistant coach at Bethlehem Catholic, Nazareth and
Freedom High Schools. He is employed by Best Line Equipment. He resides in
Lower Nazareth with his wife Tracey, and son Bryce.

Dave Wickman-Varsity Assistant Coach

 

a 1989 Nazareth Area High School graduate lettering 3 years in basketball and
golf. He attended Northampton Community College and was a 2 year varsity starter
on the basketball team. He also attended Moravian College. Coach Wickmann came
to Nazareth 18 years go from Pen Argyl High School after serving as Varsity Assistant
Coach. He is employed by Brinks where he is currently a lead supervisor within the
company. He resides in Nazareth and has a son, Mason who attends Campbell
University.

Craig Topping-Varsity Assistant Coach

 

Varsity/JV Assistant, is a 1992 Nazareth Area High School graduate, lettering three years in basketball and was a starter for the 1991-1992 Colonial League championship team. Coach Topping attended Shippensburg University and received a B.S. in Environmental Science. Coach Topping is employed by DSM Nutritional Products. He resides in Nazareth with his wife Jennifer and two daughters, Sarah and Elizabeth.

Ed Reid-Junior Varsity Head Coach

 

 – JV Head Coach, is a 2002 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and an all-league and all-area athlete in soccer and basketball. Lettering three years in basketball, baseball, and soccer, Coach Reid was the eighth player in PAHS basketball history to score over 1,000 points. He went on to play basketball at Moravian College where he lettered all four years and was a three-year starter. After graduating with a degree in Sociology and a certification in Elementary Education, Coach Reid began his coaching career as the Head JV coach for his high school alma mater. He held that position at PAHS for four years and also spent one year at Bethlehem Catholic High School as the Head JV coach. Coach Reid is currently a 6th grade teacher at Nazareth Area Intermediate School and owner of Old Orchard Lawn & Landscape.

Ryan Kreider-8th Grade Coach

 

Middle School Head Coach, is a 1998 graduate of Bangor High School, where he played three varsity sports. He attended East Stroudsburg University and received a degree in Physical Education. Coach Kreider has been teaching and coaching at the middle school since 2002. His favorite motto is “Never Give-up, Never Give In”. Coach Kreider resides in Bangor with his wife, Sara and their daughters, Ava and Nora.

Ryan Hercik-Freshmen Head Coach

 

is a 2013 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He attended the Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. Coach Hercik is currently in his 4th year coaching at Nazareth and also as a 4th Grade Teacher at Lower Nazareth Elementary School. He spent 2 years serving as the Middle School Assistant Coach and is in his 2nd season as the Freshman Head Coach. Coach Hercik resides in Lower Nazareth.

Steve Snyder-7th Grade Coach

 

- Middle School Coach- is a graduate from Whitehall High School and Kutztown University. He is currently teaching 8th grade Social Studies in the Middle School. Steve is in his 15th year of coaching middle school basketball. His career includes 10 years at Nazareth and 5 at Whitehall. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Deb, and watching his sons, Andrew and Matthew play baseball in college
